Our client, a prestigious garment manufacturer renowned for its exceptional quality and innovative designs, is expanding its operations. As part of this growth, they are seeking an Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join their dynamic team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in steering the company’s strategic direction and ensuring the seamless execution of its business objectives.
Your new role
As the AGM, you will be at the forefront of the company’s Merchandising and Procurement departments, leading the charge from product conception to delivery. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Monitoring market trends to keep the company at the cutting edge of the industry.
- Managing customer relationships and adapting to their evolving needs.
- Developing and implementing sourcing strategies across China, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
- Negotiating favourable pricing and terms, while also crafting and executing comprehensive sourcing and account strategies.
- Enhancing procurement processes, guiding the evaluation of supplier capabilities, and ensuring the highest quality of fabric and trims.
- Expanding customer accounts by leveraging the company’s strengths to adapt to the dynamic global market.
- Establishing sales and sourcing strategies, setting targets for various regions, customers, and suppliers, and aiming to meet or exceed related KPIs.
- Being stationed in Guangdong province for four days a week and spending one day a week in Hong Kong.
- Being open to occasional overseas travel as required.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fashion, Textiles, Clothing, or related fields.
- A minimum of 10 years’ managerial experience in the apparel industry, with a preference for expertise in the lingerie segment.
- A mature, independent, proactive, well-organised, creative, and results-driven leadership style.
- Strong business acumen, analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in product development, sourcing, and production processes, especially in lingerie/swimwear.
- Experience and exposure to European/North American markets will be highly regarded.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with fluency in English and Chinese.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and ERP systems.
- Candidates with less experience may be considered for Merchandising and Purchasing Manager roles.
