HONG KONG SAR RANKS AMONG TOP EMERGING TALENT NETWORKS GLOBALLY ACCORDING TO NEW HAYS REPORT
Market emerged 3rd for top emerging talent network in technology, manufacturing and life sciences, 4th for banking, financial services and insurance, and engineering

Hong Kong SAR, 13 Sep 2024 – Hong Kong SAR was identified as an emerging talent network across five industries in a new Hays report that details markets with the strongest talent profiles, those struggling with the biggest talent deficits, and where organisations can find the most cost-effective talent networks to hire the skills they need.

The report, ‘The Workforce of the Future: Navigating the Skills Disruption', examines five sectors - technology, engineering, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing and life sciences - in over 30 markets.

“Many markets today have workforces with a large proportion of employees possessing over eight years of experience, with some going up to 75%,” says Sue Wei, Managing Director at Hays Greater China. “Among these markets, Hong Kong was recognised for its emerging talent, with a significant portion of the workforce having 0-3 years of experience.”

Hong Kong was ranked 3rd for top emerging talent networks in technology, manufacturing and life sciences. The market was also ranked 4th for banking, financial services and insurance, and engineering.

“Hong Kong’s competitive advantages with talent make it a prime choice for businesses looking for long-term growth. However, this comes with its own set of challenges, such as investing in and developing the prerequisite skills for talent to function effectively. Leaders looking to capitalise on this market will need to consider the talent they need, where they will be getting it from, what levels of skills and experience they require for the job and how much it will cost,” says Sue.

Additionally, Hong Kong was found to be one of only two talent networks with the most robust talent profiles in life sciences alongside Singapore.

“Life sciences talent in Hong Kong is split neatly within all three quadrants, with 38% in their early careers, 30% with 4-7 years’ experience and 32% with over 7 years’ experience, making it ideal for organisations looking to offshore outsource parts of this function,”said Sue.
